President John Dramani Mahama has appointed new heads to three key security services in Ghana.
The appointments, announced on Friday, March 14, 2025, reflect the President’s commitment to enhancing national security and ensuring the safety of citizens.
The new appointees include Patience Baffoe-Bonnie as the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong as the Chief Fire Officer, and Samuel Basentale Amadu as the Comptroller-General of the Ghana Immigration Service.
These appointments come on the heels of a major shake-up in the security sector, which saw the removal of Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as Inspector-General of Police (IGP), replacing him with Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, former deputy IGP.
The changes are part of a broader effort by the Mahama administration to restructure key security institutions and enhance national security.
The President’s decision to appoint new heads to these critical security services demonstrates his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Ghanaians.
The appointments have been welcomed by many, who see them as a positive step towards strengthening the country’s security apparatus.
However, others have expressed concerns about the timing and motivations behind the changes.
