President John Dramani Mahama has strongly criticized the subpar construction of a resettlement housing project in a community affected by the recent tidal waves in Ghana.
He expressed his concern that the quality of work did not meet the standards required to protect the people, stressing the need for better efforts to safeguard the lives of citizens.
During a visit to the Volta Region on March 6, 2025, Mahama took the opportunity to speak directly to the people, assuring them that the government is committed to finding a long-term solution to the devastation caused by the tidal waves.
He specifically announced that funds will be allocated in the 2025 budget for Phase Two of the Berekusu Sea Defence Project, aimed at protecting the affected communities from future disasters.
In a heartfelt statement on Independence Day, Mahama shared that he had spent the afternoon with residents of Amutinu, Salakope, and Agavedzi, distributing food, relief items, and cash support.
However, the visit also highlighted the dire need for proper planning and execution in addressing the challenges faced by these communities.
