Wednesday 7th October 2020 will go down the memory lane of Kenyasi, the District Capital Asutifi North as a day when motorcycle cycle riders popularly known as Okada went on strike just to volunteer to accompany the Parliamentary Candidate of the NDC, Ebenezer Kwaku Addo as he went to submit his forms at the District Electoral Office.

Members of his team included the Hon. Eric Addae (Former DCE), Charity Gardiner (Deputy Regional Secretary) , the Deputy Regional Organizer, Deputy Regional Women’s Organizer, the constituency Chairman and his executives.

The Asutifi North is one of the richest districts in Ghana housing the world most renowned gold firm, Newmont GoldCorp but the town is yet to see new infrastructural developments other than the projects that were began by the NDC and the rate of joblessness has caused a spike in the Okada business. The Okada riders sudden love for the NDC is born out of the manifesto promise to legalize their business.

With this show of strength and unity, and the continual silent defection of members of the NPP into the NDC, the NDC is likely to snatch the seat.
