The once vibrant factory was shut down three years ago over alleged technical reasons, the result of which has rendered the machinery in the company malfunctioning.

An Awake News at the Ministry of Trade revealed that the ministry is in serious discussions with a Brazilian investor, Flamingo, to pump money into bringing new life to the defunct and abandoned North Tongu local rice mill.

“It is part of the identified abandoned factories the government has earmarked to revive for our ‘One District, One Factory’ flagship job creation programme,” the source explained.

Albeit no conclusion had been drawn on the discussion between Flamingo and the Ministry of Trade, the source said the two parties hoped to finalise the investment talks in three months’ time.
