Video: Drunk police officer boards Trotro with AK47

The Ghana police service has launched an investigation into a viral video which shows a heavily drunk police officer who boarded a commercial vehicle with an AK47 rifle.

The errant Police officer whose details are yet to be known reportedly [ads1]boarded the vehicle from Ridge roundabout to Madina.

The only detail is known about the officer so far is the fact that he is stationed with the Madina station of the Ghana Police Service.

In the video, the drunk officer was unable to sit in a stable manner. All he could do was to continuously brag about his drinking prowess.

What made the whole incident risky was the fact that the said officer was unable to control the rifle in the vehicle loaded with passengers.

When the driver’s mate asked him to pay, he is heard in the video saying in twi that, “me ne obiaa nni asem”, meaning, ‘I have no problem with anyone’.

The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, Sheila Buckman is reported to have said that the service’s attention has been drawn to the incident.

She said investigations are already underway into the conduct of the police officer, and if he is found guilty of having breached the code of ethics of the police service, the commensurate sanctions will be applied.
