A member of the NDC communications team in the North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region, Mr. Kuma Quashie has said the Nana Addo led administration is making efforts by former governments in tackling corruption ineffective.
The communicator made this assertion on Bator based Klenam FM’s morning show dubbed ‘Enuake’ in relation to the outcome of a survey conducted by Penplusbytes on Anti-Corruption. The survey indicated that corruption perception remains very high among many Ghanaians who believe that the current government has done very little or nothing [ads1]at all in the fight against corruption.
The survey, which was carried out in the Western and Greater Accra regions revealed that seven out of ten Ghanaians believe that H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are rather promoting corruption, instead of fighting it.
Mr. Kuma Quashie backed his submission with events believed by most Ghanaians to be corruption relate. He categorically mentioned ‘Cash for Seat Saga’, Ken Bond’, Kelni GVG’, ‘BOST’ and the most recent ‘Ghana Card’ in which, he claimed, the President cleared all allegations leveled against the various appointees involved.
“The President made a fool out of Ghanaians by setting up the Office of the Special Prosecutor which has not yet taken any action or steps whatsoever in the fight”.
Mr. Quashie made it clear that corruption is at its apex under the president.
His argument was, however, countered by his counterpart, Mr Desmond Ahumble, a representative of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Mr. Desmond said that former President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) left several palpable marks of corruption before their total defeat in the 2016 general elections.
