8 OMCs suspended for tax evasion

The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has suspended eight Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) between one month and three months.

They were suspended for their involvement in activities that led to a loss of tax revenue to the government.

As a result of this, the listed companies have been charged to desist from engaging in sales, supply, transportation, discharge and receipt of petroleum products for the duration of their suspension.

The companies suspended for one month are Union oil Ghana Limited, Agapet Limited, Excel Oil Company Limited, Misyl Energy Company Limited, Globex Energy Company.

Others who have suspended for three months include Petro Afrique Company Limited, Life Petroleum Company Limited, Unique Company Limited.

This was contained in a press release from the NPA dated July 24, 2018.

The sanctions are effective July 28, 2018.
