Confirmed in a Press Release with a reference number WAEC/PRO/VOL.3/109, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both School and Private candidates on Wednesday, January 25, 2023.
The Press Release signed by Victor Brew (Rev), Head, Legal, for Head of National Office, explained that following the completion of investigations carried out into some of the cases of examination malpractice detected during the conduct of the examinations, the 33rd Meeting of the Final Awards and Examiners’ Appointment Committee for the BECE, 2022 held on January 24, 2023 approved the “Cancellation of the Entire Results of 73 School candidates and 2 Private candidates for the offence of bringing mobile phones into the examination halls.
Withholding of the Entire Results of 11 school candidates pending conclusion of investigations into various cases alleged examination malpractices” the Press Release added.
Meanwhile, the West African Examination Council (WAEC) will dispatch the results of school candidates to their respective schools through the Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors of Education. The Private candidates’ can be assessed at the Council’s website www.waec.gh.org. Also, School candidates who so desire, may also access their results online at the Council’s website.
The Council has cautioned all stakeholders to be wary of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee.
In all, a total of 552,288 registered as school candidates and a total of 1,144 registered as private candidates. However, 4,309 and 84 candidates were absent from both the 2022 School and Private examination.
