Three known activists of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) were on Tuesday night arrested for allegedly hoarding registration materials of the National Identification Authority (NIA) at Old Fadama, a suburb of Accra.
Daniel Holali Dagah, an activist of the NPP and aspiring assemblyman for the area, Saliu who is also the NPP Secretary for the Old Fadama Electoral Area and one other, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed are currently in the custody of the police.
They were arrested by a group of young men led by the NDC branch Chairman for area, Wusama Yakubu while filling the NIA registration and Oath forms for some persons at a private residence around 8:30 pm.
They had several of both the registration and Oath forms in their custody.
Upon the arrival at the scene of the Deputy National Organizer of the Opposition NDC, Chief Hamilton Biney Nixon, the James Town Police were called in to arrest the culprits.
When queried how they got the NIA registration materials, one of the culprits, Daniel Holali Dagah named one Malik who he described as the NIA monitoring officer for the Ashiedu Keteke Sub-metro as the one who released the documents to them.
According to NIA itself, both the registration and Oath forms are not supposed to be filled by the applicant at the registration centers, let alone taken out of the centers. They are handled only by the NIA officials at the registration centers.
The 3 suspects it is gathered were later transferred to the Ministries police station.
