Kwabena Kaya, 25, a resident of Akyemfo Nakessedo in Saltpond in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region, escaped lynching after allegedly being caught stealing coconuts.

The alleged burglar, identified as a coconut seller, was allegedly caught attempting to steal coconut fruits from a coconut tree in Netro, a Mankessim neighbourhood, without permission.

The suspect was saved from being stoned to death by an alert police patrol team from the Mankessim Police Division, who had planned to kill the culprit after complaining about theft in the area recently.

Locals observed the suspect, who was apprehended after failing to remove even one coconut from the coconut tree, refusing to come down until the police arrived.

The suspect is now in the hands of Mankessim Police Command, which is aiding with the investigation.
