The Center for Social Democracy (CSD) has expressed displeasure over security agents threatening agents and supporters of the National Democratic Congress amid the declaration of the 2020 election results.
According to the group this behavior is devastating and can lead to violence and massacre.
A statement issued by the group said, “The Center for Social Democracy (CSD) has observed with indignation, the use of security agents to intimidate agents and supporters of the National Democratic Congress(NDC)”.
“These purported security agents armed to the teeth and dressed in fearful garb have been observed to act with impunity and without fear of any repercussions, it noted.
They also said “We have observed this in at least five constituencies including Techiman South, Upper Denkyira West, where the recorded victories for the NDC were being overturned. This is most unfortunate and represents the most disgraceful bastardization of our state institutions”.
“This has the potential to result in bloodshed and the loss of Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of
democracy in the Africa. Indeed, this has already resulted in the deaths of two people in Techiman
South. It must be noted that more than five people have lost their lives in the within 24 hours after the
2020 elections without any provocation or an act of violence, first in the history of the fourth Republic, the statement cited.
However, the group admonished the individuals involved to act professionally and upright.
” We are by this release cautioning the individuals involved to act professionally and respectably”.
“They should note that their guns may not be able to protect them if concerned Ghanaians rise against them
and their sponsors. Unfortunately, innocent Ghanaians might be caught in the crossfire with a
deleterious impact on all aspects of our national life, it added.
The Center for Social Democracy (CSD) appealed to “Ghanaians to resist any attempt to disenfranchise them and steal power for people who may not have won the elections fairly.
“Also, we call on the National Peace Council and Civil Society to play the same role they played in 2016
when the declaration appeared to be delayed. In addition, we would like to call on the Electoral
commission to act fairly and in good time to declare the winner of the 2020 elections, the statement read.
They, “We demand that all Media Houses to verify their figures before broadcasting same as there have been
instances where the numbers published by media houses were at variance with the actual numbers at the constituencies”.

Military & Police Brutality and Election Declaration
1. The Center for Social Democracy (CSD) has observed with indignation, the use of security agents to
intimidate agents and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). These purported security
agents armed to the teeth and dressed in fearful garb have been observed to act with impunity and
without fear of any repercussions.
2. We have observed this in at least five constituencies including Techiman South, Upper Denkyira West,
where the recorded victories for the NDC were being overturned. This is most unfortunate and
represents the most disgraceful bastardization of our state institutions.
3. This has the potential to result in bloodshed and the loss of Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of
democracy in the Africa. Indeed, this has already resulted in the deaths of two people in Techiman
South. It must be noted that more than five people have lost their lives in the within 24 hours after the
2020 elections without any provocation or an act of violence, first in the history of the fourth Republic.
4. We are by this release cautioning the individuals involved to act professionally and respectably. They
should note that their guns may not be able to protect them if concerned Ghanaians rise against them
and their sponsors. Unfortunately, innocent Ghanaians might be caught in the crossfire with a
deleterious impact on all aspects of our national life.
5. We have had seven successful and peaceful elections since 1992, and as a people, we need to protect
the gains made in our democracy.
6. We call on Ghanaians to resist any attempt to disenfranchise them and steal power for people who
may not have won the elections fairly.
7. Also, we call on the National Peace Council and Civil Society to play the same role they played in 2016
when the declaration appeared to be delayed. In addition, we would like to call on the Electoral
commission to act fairly and in good time to declare the winner of the 2020 elections.
8. We demand that all Media Houses to verify their figures before broadcasting same as there have been
instances where the numbers published by media houses were at variance with the actual numbers at
the constituencies.
9. It is our hope that the above will be heeded, and Ghana will continue to shine bright, anytime elections
are discussed.
10. God bless our homeland Ghana.
