2019 Inspirational Public Service Leadership Awards: IMANI seeks public’s assessment

Policy think tank, IMANI Africa is seeking an assessment from the public on the performance of Ministries, Departments and Angencies of Ghana.

The call according to IMANI Africa in a public announcement sighted by Awake News is to give the “chance to tell government which of its agencies are innovating in public service delivery.”

The online public assessment which forms part of processes for IMANI’s 2019 Inspirational Public Service Leadership Awards is “to give a rounded and robust assesment of MDAs with respect to public sector innovation”

And, “we need the assistance of you…the public!” – the announcement said.

“To this end IMANI Africa has formulated a short questionnaire that will allow Ghanaians to asses public sector institutions with respect to the innovative projects they have implemented to ensure effective delivery of public services.” – the announcement elaborated

“This questionnaire will take no more than 10 minutes to complete. However, we implore you to complete this questionnaire for the multiple institutions you have some experience dealing with” – it added

About the award scheme:

IPSLA is an advocacy tool to support on-going reforms in the public sector and to boost the stature of those pursuing those reforms. Public institutions need strong leadership and direction to enable them focus on the rule of law, competent and minimal bureaucracy, and the transparent provision of public goods such as; security of life and property, sound regulation and the enforcement of quality standards. The dynamic environment within which public sector institutions operate demands constant innovation in their processes and procedures, which requires constant measurement and assessment.
The goal of measuring innovation in public service delivery is to continuously help improve the innovation capacity and outputs of these institutions. Crucially it is to encourage management of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) improve or initiate efficiency enhancing systems in public service delivery.
