President Nana Akufo Addo has today, Tuesday 13th April 2021 commissioned Phase One of the B5 Plus Steel Plant, an enterprise operating under the Government’s One-District-One-Factory (1D1F) initiative.
“This plant is a concrete manifestation that the new paradigm of economic development, which this administration has been vigorously pursuing since 2017, of insisting on value-addition industrial activities within a conducive and business-friendly environment, is making headway,” President Nana Addo said.
The over $80 million project is located within the Ningo-Prampram District of greater Accra and expected to produce different qualities of metal and steel products. It has the capacity to serve Ghana and West African Sub-region.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of B5 Plus Limited who doubles as the Director of Delhi Public school international (DPSI) Ghana, Mukesh Thakwani, said B5 Plus from its humble beginning two decades ago was importing steel and metal products from Ghana’s neighboring countries but has grown to become a net exporter of steel products to the entire West African Sub-region.
