The Anglican Church, which runs the St. Monica’s College of Education, Mampong, says it is investigating the trending video of a priest kissing female students of the institution that has generated wide condemnation on social media.
A statement signed on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 by the Executive Director to the Metropolitan Archbishop of Ghana, Venerable Dr George Dawson-Ahmoah said; “the church is saddened by the news and wish to state expressly that, thorough investigation has immediately been instituted into the matter and the action of such Priest would be dealt with in accordance with the norms and values of the Anglican communion where morality is extremely reverend in the church”.
Social media users are infuriated over the video that shows a religious leader force-kissing some female teacher trainees while he stood on a podium.
Rev. Fr Baltharzar Obeng Larbi of the St. Monica’s College of Education, fully dressed in his cassock, was seen kissing in turns some girls who were on stage with him.
The Rev. Father is said to be a lawyer and a Chaplain of the school.
Meanwhile, the church reiterated, “all efforts are being made to engage the students concerned through counselling sessions to avert any psychological issues that may arise at a result of the viral video”.
