The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called for the cancellation of the deal to sell shares of some SSNIT hotels to the Minister of Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong.
Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, Isaac Bampoe Addo, told the media on May 30, after a meeting with the Board of SSNIT, that the union asked for the deal to be discontinued.
“We were not convinced. There are so many negatives in the transaction that we have pointed out to them. How can you go through a tender process and give specifications and along the line you change the specifications? Our Procurement Act does not allow this. We have told them to cancel the deal.”
Member of Parliament for North Tongu Okudzeto Ablakwa and civil society groups have all called for the deal to be cancelled. They say the transaction is a state capture adventure by President Nana Akufo-Addo and his appointees.
CLOGSAG has called for the total restructuring of SSNIT.
“We will take control, this is our money. We will take control, SSNIT does not need to go ahead with the deal. They dare not go ahead with the deal and we have asked for a total restructuring of SSNIT” Isaac Bampoe Addo said.
