Some youth of Sogakofe in the Volta Region are threatening demonstration against the District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Thomas Acheampong Owoahene over the untimely death of one Jonathan Ahorlu who died in an accident three days ago in Accra.
The family of the deceased is accusing the Police Commander of hounding their son with armed Police officers over a misunderstanding between the deceased, Johnathan Ahorlu, and his wife, Mrs. Madeline Ahorlu.
Narrating the issues, a family member who spoke to Awake News on condition of anonymity said, the deceased until his untimely death was legally married to Madeline.
However, about two months ago, Madeline left her matrimonial home saying she was no longer interested in the marriage hence moved to the mother’s residence.
Madeline is alleged to have cut communication with his husband while the husband had traveled out of Sogakofe forcing the deceased to speak to the wife through a third party for which Madeline is alleged to have told the husband that her phone had got missing.
However, upon Johnathan’s return to Sogakofe, he had discovered that his wife had left the shop he had rented for her and now doing his drinking bar business in another shop. Jonathan is said to have gone to his wife’s new shop and unannounced only to discover that she was using a new phone. This became an argument with Johnathan attempting to take the phone from the wife while questioning the source her the phone and why she lied to him. This is said to have resulted in the struggle over the phone leading to the phone being damaged.
It was alleged that at the time that Johnathan struggling with the wife over the phone, the District Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Owoahene was present.
A youth leader in Sogakofe told Awake News that after the incident, a close friend of Madeline who was also present at the bar during the incent allegedly arranged for some men from the Sogakofe Zongo who went to attack the deceased forcing him to run to the Police Station to file a complaint about his attack.
The source further alleged that upon the decease getting to the Police Station, he was hinted that the District Police Commander had ordered for his arrest over what happened in his presence at the dirking spot. This is said to have forced the decease to flee the Police station without filing his complaint.
It was further said that the parents of the deceased had to go to the Police Commander to plead for the settlement of the case between the deceased and his wife but Commander is alleged to have refused and insisted on the arrest of the young man.
They alleged that the Commander had then ordered his men to search and arrest the decease forcing him to flee the town using his car. Whiles on his way, he met his untimely death in a car accident.
The leaders of the planned demonstrations are also accusing the District Police Commander of being a “very very friend” of Madaline alleging that was the main reason why the Commander has a kin interest in seeing the husband of Madalin behind bars.
“We will bring Johnathan’s corps and dump in the house of the Commander. Trust me” – the youth leader wows.
In an interview with Awake News, Chief Superintendent Thomas Acheampong Owoahene had rebused the claim that he is the cause of the death of the young man insisting that he was only effecting an arrest over a complaint that had been filed at the Police station by the deceased wife.
According to the Police Commander, the diseases were being hunted by the Police over “assault and causing harm”.
The sounding equally angry Commander also refuted claims that he has and close friendship with Madaline.
More coming soon.
