Police at Sogakofe in the Volta Region has arrested five suspected motor robbers in a dawn operation on Friday, December 27, 2019 after a victim had reported that his motor mike has been stolen.
Among the five arrested was Emmanuel Xedzro from Alavanyo – a village near Sogakofe who has been described by some citizens of Sogakofe as a notorious “motor thief” with about seventeen (16) of such cases hanging on his neck. They said Emmanuel had on several occasion arrested on similar offences but get released.
According to sources, Emmanuel Xedzro, on Thursday, December 26, 2019 allegedly stole another motor mike belonging to a Military Officer at Atsieve in South Tongu District and before his Friday arrest had escaped from the Police custody.
The Military officer who had bought the Motor for his younger brother then lunched a complaint at the Sogakofe Police station leading to the arrest of Emmanuel of his other four accomplices namely, Gabriel Amelorku, Videdu Elikem, Videdu Elijah, Nicholas Galley.
Speaking to Awake News, the Sogakofe Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Dennis Fiakpui confirmed the arrested of the five suspects adding that some of them had escaped.
Benibe Daniel and Ahiadu Kwablah are said to be on the wanted list of the Police.
