Mr. Mensah, the father of Josephine Panyin Mensah, the alleged missing Pregnant woman in Takoradi says, the reports that she was not pregnant are false.

He made this known in an interview with Captain Smart on Onua Tv, Thursday, September 23.

Mr. Mensah recounted that Josephine was almost 10-month pregnant and due for delivery hence visited the family to give birth there.

He also asserted that the doctors’ report indicated Josephine must exercise every dawn to quicken childbirth since her date had passed so due to that exercises daily from their house to the streets, however, went out one of the days and never returned.

“My daughter is a married woman who lives with her husband, but she came to us to deliver because she was due. Her doctor’s report says she must exercise every dawn to hasten the birth so through that she exercises daily by moving to and fro in our house to the streets but went out one of the days and never returned”.

When asked if he got to know of her missing through the husband, Mr. Mensah said, “she has a young boy who has started school, the mother dressed him for school since Josephine went to exercise, and look forward to her return but it was in vain. We inquired from the husband if she has gone to him but he said no so we reported to the police. However, days later we had a call from someone that she has been kidnapped so we proceeded to the police station for her rescue.

An enormous number of people were greatly moved last week when news of the supposed kidnapping of 9-month pregnant Josephine Panyin Mensah went viral on social media.

There were many calls for assistance to help find her.

On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, there was news that she had been found in Axim, but without a baby bump which according to eyewitnesses, she claimed had been taken by her kidnappers.

She was subsequently admitted to the Axim Government Hospital but in a shocking curl of events, the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah said the claim of pregnancy and kidnapping by the woman is false.

Reacting to this, Mr. Mensah said the family is grieving due to the utterances of the Regional Minister, and thus as a leader, he should have visited the community to find out the issue on the ground before commenting since it’s something that has been happening in the region, instead, he went ahead to accuse the lady of not being pregnant and that she has a mental problem.

Continuing that, everyone in Takoradi is overwhelmed with the turned out. “If she was her family, would he have said that?”, the father quizzed.

The Father further disclosed that Josephine Panyin Mensah has a hospital that she sought medical attention from so they can go there for her antenatal reviews and assessment records.

Earlier on, the woman’s husband and some residents insisted that she was pregnant, leaving many with mixed feelings about the situation.

With many seeking speedy probe into the issue for full disclosure, the Takoradi Hospital, one of the health facilities she is reported to have sought medical attention may hold the key to determine if indeed she was pregnant at the time of her alleged kidnapping as her medical records could hold information about the kind of health service she sought there.

Nevertheless, Rev. Osei Boateng, the Administrator at the facility said such information cannot be given to the public immediately as investigations are still ongoing.

He said the facility would only be able to do that on the instruction of the Regional Health Directorate and also gave assurances that the documents are being safely kept at the facility.

“The folders are still in our custody and all other details are still in our custody and until we receive a directive from our superiors, it might be difficult for us to release that one. This is patient confidentiality [issues and] we cannot breach that contract. The folder is in the hospital under lock and key. I can assure you,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Police investigations have suggested that Josephine Panyin Mensah, the said pregnant woman who was allegedly kidnapped in Takoradi about two weeks ago is not pregnant and may have conspired with other persons over her disappearance.
