The National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, has called on the party’s youth to be prepared to protest if Malik Basintale, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the party, is arrested.
On the morning of Thursday, September 5, various social media reports suggested that Mr. Basintale is facing the threat of imminent arrest.
According to these reports, the potential arrest stems from a recent comment made by the young politician about the Vice President and flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Reacting to the threat of arrest, Pablo urged the youth of the NDC to prepare to hit the streets of Accra in protest if Mr. Basintale is arrested.
He emphasized that the party will not stand by and allow its members to be intimidated by the current regime, saying “As Commander of the NDC Youth Wing, I call on the Green Army to stand ready.”
In a social media post, Pablo stated that “If Comrade Malik Basintale is arrested, we will mobilize and protest at the Police Headquarters. We will not be intimidated in 2024. We shall take the protest to the streets & every corner of the country!”
