One year after cutting sod: no show on TOR-Kpone road

President Akufo-Addo, yesterday cut sod for the commencement of what the government calls Agenda 111– a program which seeks to build 111 hospitals accross the country.

Following the announcements in the sod cutting Awake News senior reporter, Umar Sheriff Musah goes to trace some of the many sod-cutting ceremonies that were held in the wake of election 2020 compaign.

One of such projects is the TOR-Kpone road.

A year on-August 2, 2020-after Kwasi Amoako-Attah, Minister for Roads and Highways, held a political funfair at Aluworks to cut sod for the reconstruction of the 7.2km torn VALCO Roundabout-TOR-Kpone road, the Awake News can report that show was to hoodwink the chiefs and people of Kpone-Katamanso Traditional Area.

Awake News toured the stretch on Wednesday to abreast itself with the progress of work, but it is shameful to report that, the condition of the road is worse than it was when the Minister, Hopeson Adorye, who was the 2020 Parliamentary candidate for the NPP in Kpone-Katamanso, and Titus Nii Kwarteh Glover, the East Tema NPP Parliamentary candidate, and a large party supporters thronged the venue, Aluworks, to celebrate the new dawn that was going to fall on the deplorable road.

The Minister promised that the work on the single-carriageway would be completed in 24 months because the contractor, M/s Joshob Company Limited, who would be supervised by DUR, had already mobilised to site.
