The National Democratic Congress (NDC) today, September 17, 2024, submitted a petition to the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, demanding a thorough forensic audit of the voter register. This move aims to ensure the integrity and credibility of the upcoming elections on December 7.
In submitting the petition to Samuel Tettey, Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations at the EC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the NDC, emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that failure to address their concerns could undermine the integrity of the elections.
The party also presented a similar petition to Parliament during their “Enough is Enough” protest, which was held simultaneously across all 16 regions of Ghana. Thousands of supporters and party executives expressed their dissatisfaction with the EC over what they claim is a flawed voter register.
For some time now, Mr. Nketia has been vocal about the need for electoral reform. With this petition, the NDC is advocating for a transparent and credible electoral process.
