President John Dramani Mahama has instructed the Fisheries Minister, Emelia Arthur, to work closely with the Minister of Finance Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson to secure funding for the completion of the Anomabu Fisheries College that was abandoned under the erstwhile NPP led government.
President Mahama who is in the Central Region today on a Thank You tour, reiterated government’s commitment to completing all abandoned projects for the benefit of Ghanaians.
Mahama said “We will find the funds to complete them. The project is close to completion only chairs, tables, beds, and other materials are needed, as well as some campus roads to finish the first phase. Fortunately, every government prepares a new budget, and the Finance Minister will present it in Parliament this March.
“I have instructed the Fisheries Minister to take immediate action and collaborate with the Finance Minister to allocate the necessary funds to complete the project. Once we finish phase one, we will focus on phase two.”
The construction of the college started under the NDC government in 2011, but was abandoned later after president Mahama lost power. The college, consists of lecture theaters, fish ponds, boreholes, and a water pumping station.
