Gender activist, Amelia Amedela Amemate popularly known as Dela Goldheart has just posted on her facebook page that they have been arrested by the personnel from the Ghana Police Service.
In her post is pictures of the Convenor of FixTheCountry Movement, Mawuse Oliver Barker-Vormawor and according to the former the opposition National Democratic Congress former Anlo Constituency parliamentary candidate aspirant, “The police just arrested us for standing at the 37 trotro station. Nothing about why we are being arrested.”
“They are driving us to where we don’t know.” – her added
It is not yet clear if this arrest is in connection with the “Occupy Julorbi House” demonstration which was intended to be a continuous three days picketing at the seat of government starting from today, September 21, 2020 over what the organizers described as “mis-governance, corruption and the general economic hardships in the country”
Few days ago, the police to court to secure injunction to stop the demonstration however, the demonstrators said “will go ahead with their planned 3-day picketing despite a court injunction purportedly sought after by the police.”
