Invite Bryan Acheampong for questioning- NDC Exec. tells IGP

George Dampare

The Deputy Constituency Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tain Constituency, Obeng Francis, has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), George Akuffo Dampare, to invite the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Bryan Acheampong, for questioning.

This comes after Mr. Acheampong stated during a campaign tour in the Eastern Region that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will use any means necessary to win the 2024 elections. The Minister further added that those who “don’t understand should go and burn the sea.”

Mr. Francis described the Minister’s statement as inappropriate and said it caused “fear and panic”.

The NDC executive expressed concerns that the NPP government, led by President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is attempting to intimidate Ghanaians ahead of the 2024 elections.

Speaking on Tain FM 90.9, Obeng Francis accused the government of trying to instill fear in Ghanaians instead of focusing on their achievements and policies.

Mr. Francis emphasized that the NDC remains committed to a peaceful and democratic election and urged authorities to hold political leaders accountable for their language and actions.

He called on the Council of Elders, the Christian Council, and security agencies to address Mr. Acheampong’s comments and ensure that political leaders refrain from making threatening statements.
