I will enhance the lives of Persons living with Disabilities in Madina – lawyer Sosu

The Parliamentary Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Lawyer Francis-Xavier Sosu has pledged to enhance the lives of persons living with disabilities within Madina-La Nkwantanang Municipality when voted as Member of Parliament in the upcoming Parliamentary Elections on December 7, 2020.

Lawyer Sosu made the pledge on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at a Special event organised by the Treasure of Life Foundation at Echoing Hills, Social Welfare, Madina for persons who are physically challenged within the municipality and it’s environs.

In her welcome address, Miss Janet Mawuena Sosu, Head of Operations of the Foundation indicated that the foundation is committed to reaching out to all manner of vulnerable children and particularly looks forward to working with children with physical challenges to enhance their lives.

The event which was on the theme “Looking Beyond Disabilities” was addressed by Mr. Jonathan Agbesi of MTN Ghana. Using himself as an example, Mr Agbesi demonstrated how persons with physical challenges need to liberate themselves and achieve their fullest potentials. He advised that persons with physical challenges should not look down on themselves nor be discouraged by how society perceives them.

The Chairman of the event Mr. Philip Derrick Asare, formally of GBC commended Lawyer Sosu and the Tresure of Life Foundation for their vision and dedication to enhance the lives of the most vulnerable in Society.

Lawyer Sosu, a Human Rights Lawyer who has also fought for and on behalf of the disability community in Ghana assured that his quest to go to parliament is inspired by his desire to serve the most vulnerable.

“Political leadership is about selfless service. I have always had the desire to serve the disability community because I have a blind sister and understand the challenges of persons living with disabilities generally. I also know that disability is not inability. I know you can achieve your dreams like every other person when you have the necessary support. As far back as 2004 in University of Ghana, I had a project dedicated to helping persons living with disabilities. I will work more to enhance your lives when I become your member of parliament in Madina” Lawyer Sosu assured.
