Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, Volta Regional Minister-designate

Some angry youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Volta Region has scheduled to hit the street tomorrow, Monday, January 25, 2021 over the re-nomination of Dr. Archibal Letsa as Volta Regional Minister-designate.

However, the Volta Region Police Command has kicked against intended “Enough is Enough” demostration citing the growing number of COVID-19 positive cases in the region.

“Currently, the region has 106 active cases with two deaths in a space of two weeks. These cases are mainly within Ho, Hohoe, North Tongu and Ketu north. In this critical time of upsurge in Covid 19 cases in the region, the command is determined to support other key stakeholders in containing the pandemic to guarantee public health and safety.” – the statement signed by Sgt. Prince Dogbatse, Public Affairs Officer of Volta Regional Police Command said

The group that is kicking against Dr. Letsa said, the immediate former Regional Minister is very stingy and does not support the activities of NPP in the region hence appointment him again to head the Volta Region will feature weaken the party in the opposition NDC’s stronghold.

“Mr. President the naked truth is that Dr. Letsa’s stingy nature is alien to our tradition. Speak to the security around Dr. Letsa and you will know this fact. Speak to the media and you will be shocked to your bones marrow the negative view they hold about Dr. Letsa. Kindly find out also about the number of votes he, Dr. Letsa garnered for you in the just-ended election.” – One NPP member who indentified himself as Klefe Drunker’s friend said in an open letter to the President.

The group has also accused the former Regional Minister of not “help in uniting the Party in the Region. He rather unleashed all his energies in dividing the rank of the Party. It is the grace of God and the hard work of our party people that brought us over 100,000 votes in the 2020 elections. Dr. Letsa practically contributed nothing to this moderate progress made by the Party in the Region.”

They are therefore calling on the President to drop him but are, however, not yet emphatic as to who the President should consider.
