Debating Bawumia will be “suicidal” for Mahama – Stephen Atubiga

Stephen Atubiga, leader of the National Liberation Congress (NLC) political movement and former member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed that the NDC’s flagbearer, John Mahama, will face significant challenges if he decides to debate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

According to the expelled NDC member, it would be “suicidal” for former President Mahama to agree to and participate in a debate with the Vice President.

Atubiga’s comments came in response to Bawumia’s speech at the launch of the NPP’s manifesto in Takoradi on August 18, 2024.

On what informed his assertion, Atubiga cited the “big” economics terms and complex grammar that the Vice President used in his address.

“Proving how tax breaks and amnesty to companies and individuals, would bring them back on track of paying their taxes , and give them a clean start, would be very dangerous and suicidal for NDC trying to debate this economic wizard,” Atubiga wrote in a social media post on Monday, August 19.

“Those powerful economics vocabularies surely confuse and daze most presidential candidates,” he added.
