Bawumia to hold public lecture; says they’re fixing Mahama’s mess

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is expected to hold a public lecture at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday, April 19, 2021, as a direct response to the issues being raised by the #FixTheCountry campaigners.

The public lecture which is dubbed “We are Fixing It” says #WeAreFixingMahama’sMess.

The flyer with “We Are Are Fixing Mahama’s Mess” has reignited public anger with many Ghanaians wondering why the President Akufo-Addo/Bawumia led NPP government after close to 5years in the office is still blaming former President John Mahama for their inability to manage or improve where the Mahama led NDC left Ghana before they took over.

Following the introduction of new taxes and increment in fuel, Ghanaian youth have taken to social media to protest under the Hashtag #FixTheCountry raising several issues including economic hardships, high taxes, galamsey, corruption, water crises and dumsor.

In counter-response from government officials and the NPP was #FixYourSelf first hashtag but this could not detract the #FixTheCountry agenda.

The Vice President in several posts on his Facebook page made some claims on a number of projects the NPP government has initiated which he said is helping fix the country. However, most of his claims turn out to be false and misleading.

The group planned on massive demonstration on May 9, 2021 but the police went to secure a court order restraining the protesters citing a lack of resources to provide security for the special event and Covid-19 restrictions. However, on Sunday, the police storm the Balck Star square where the group planned to converge with many around vehicles.
