Mr Ablakwa’s comment follows a recent post-election survey by the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) which indicated that 62% of 2400 Ghanaians interviewed between May 23 and June 3, 2021 said that they do not have confidence in the ability of President Akufo-Addo “to protect the country’s financial resources and curb corruption in the next four years”.

Speaking on Joy FM’s News File on Saturday, September 4, 2021, Okudzeto Ablakwa urged the government not to take the findings of the survey lightly and pointed to instances where President Akufo-Addo failed to deal with issues of corruption.

“If you do the analysis from all the Afrobarometers and juxtapose it with this survey, it is clear that confidence in the President is at an all-time low. The President should be very worried about that. I think the President has to sit up”

“There have been very palpable, tangible, concrete examples of corruption. The President has had to fire people. He has had to promise investigations, except that often these investigations lead nowhere”, he added.
