Ambulance case: NPP finally admit Dame engaged Richard Jakpa

Godfred Dame

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Frank Davies has admitted that the Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame engaged the third accused in the ongoing ambulance trial, Richard Jakpa on a phone call.

Speaking on JoyNews File, the legal practitioner admitted that Godfred Dame spoke to Richard Jakpa but said there was no instance where he coached the third accused to skew evidence.

“I listened to that tape recording I cannot see at what instance I heard the AG coaching, persuading and getting Jakpa to skew evidence. However, they disagreed on basic understandings of what was transpiring.”

Frank Davies who presented the NPP’s counter-press statement after the NDC held their earlier on May 28 said the whole narrative in the call conversation showed two people disagreeing on a subject.

“I am having a conversation with you, and we disagree on it, you stick to your part I stick to my part how is it coaching? It can’t even be a failed attempt because he disagreed and that is the bottom line.”

Meanwhile, NDC’s Sammy Gyamfi said if the evidence is in doubt Godfred Dame or his office would have responded. He said that the evidence’s gravity does not allow even Godfred Dame himself to argue that the tape was doctored.

“The person who was on that phone call is Mr Dame, who is very vibrant in the media. Neither Mr Dame nor his spokesperson, my good friend, Wilberforce has been able, since we published this tape, on any media platform to say that the tape was doctored.”

“The Office of the Attorney General has also not been able to say that the tape was doctored. So that wishy-washy response is very weak. We can’t work with it. Again, he [Frank Davies] said that the tape is pieced together so you should tell us which parts of the tape we have heard was pieced together. You don’t deny that there was a call? You don’t deny that the voice on the call was Mr Dame me. You say that possibly piece together which part has been pieced together. Show us?”
