The Greater Accra Zabarma Chief and President of Ghana Zabarma Association, Sarki Alhaji Pro-Umar Abubakar Tanko, has entreated the people of Gamashie to celebrate this year’s Homowo Festival in peace.
According to him, the people of Accra have enjoyed peace over the years, hence expressed hope that this year’s celebration will not be an exceptional and will be incident free.
In a press Statement signed by the Jakadiya of the Palace, Hajia Munira Mahmoud on Friday August 13, 2021, Alhaji Tanko who doubles as the President of Coalition of Zabarma Chiefs, Ghana said; “I want call on the Chiefs, the Security personal and the Asafoatsemai to put up proper strategies that will help prevent unnecessary tension and things that will jeopardize with the peace the people of Accra are enjoying in the Country”.
“I am very optimistic that the Ga Traditional Council led by Nii Adotey Otintor II and the elders in the Council, which includes, Nii Doodu Nsaki, Nii Ayi Bonte, the Gbese Mantse and among others will not spear any group of people or individual who will create unnecessary tension during this year’s Homowo celebration”, the statement added.
Sarki Pro-Umar Tanko urged parents especially from Gamashie to take advantage of the free Senior High School initiative by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and ensure their children enroll massively.
This, he said will help the youth of Gamashie to reach higher heights and become useful to their Communities asserting that, education has become very essential to our everyday activities, thus the need to take advantage of the free SHS.
He, however, called on the Chiefs, elders, philanthropist and Ga politicians to make education their topmost priority and lobby for government and non-government scholarships for their hardworking students to gain admission into the various Polytechnics and Universities in Ghana and abroad.
In furtherance, Sarki Alhaji Pro-Umar Abubakar Tanko appealed to all citizens and non -citizens to strictly adhere to the COVID 19 seftey protocols advised by the President to help mitigate further spread of the virus.
Homowo is celebrated by the Ga people of the Greater Accra Region.
The festival recounts the migration of the Gas and reveals their agricultural success in their new settlement.

The Office of Greater Accra Zabarma Chief and President of Ghana Zabarma Association under the able leadership of Sarki Alhaji Pro-Umar Abubakar Tanko wish to extend his Greetings to the Chiefs and Elders of the Ga Traditional Council and wish them well ahead of the 2021 Homowo Festival.
I further wish to urge the people of Gamashie to celebrate this year’s Homowo Festival in peace.
The people Accra had enjoyed peace over the years and i expressed hope that this year’s celebration will not be an exceptional and will be incident free.
The good people of Gamashie have witnessed peace and tranquility over the years and i just want to remind able Ga Chiefs and elders as well as citizens to continue to enjoy the peace they have shown in the past years.
I want call on the Chiefs, the Security personal and the Asafoatsemai to put up proper strategies that will help prevent unnecessary tension and things that will jeopardize with the peace the people of Accra are enjoying in the Country.
I further call on the Chiefs to take drastic action against any group of people or individual who may intend to bring trouble before, during and after the Homowo celebration.
