Member of Parliament for Ashaiman Constituency, Ernest Norgbey has stated that the New Patriotic Party NPP, in the 2016 elections managed to brainwash Ghanaians into thinking that John Mahama was corrupt.
He stated this while reacting to a report from the Economist Intelligence Unit that states that the NDC needs a new candidate to win the 2024 general election. The MP insisted Mahama will contest the 2024 slot again.
But answering questions on if the tags of incompetence and corruption associated with Mahama will dent his chances of winning the 2024 election, the legislator lampooned those assertions and also described them as mere propaganda orchestrated by the then opposition NPP to tarnish the image of the NDC’s flagbearer.
“The corruption allegations leveled against John Mahama were just mere sayings. During the vetting of the ministers, most of them apologized for that; that they were mere sayings and they did not have any evidence to back them” he noted.
He added that the NPP “were able to manage the system to the extent that they were able to brainwash Ghanaians into thinking that John Dramani Mahama was corrupt but now it is evidently clear that Ghanaians have seen that comparing this government to John Dramani Mahama’s government, this one is becoming something that Ghanaians are worried about.”
