“You said you were not a magician to create jobs; are you one now?” – Bawumia chides Mahama

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has launched a strong attack on his closest rival, John Dramani Mahama, focusing on the issue of job creation.

According to the Vice President, the 2024 election will be centered on job creation, which he claims was the downfall of the former President.

Dr. Bawumia made these statements during a courtesy call on the traditional leaders of the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency.

Speaking at the event, the NPP presidential hopeful described the former President’s tenure as a mess, arguing that it was marred by unemployment, power outages, and the cancellation of nursing and teacher training allowances.

He expressed the opinion that Mr. Mahama’s abysmal performance during his time in office was the reason he was rejected twice by Ghanaians.

He said, “The 2024 election is between myself and the former president. We have all seen the performance of the former president. This is not something someone has to tell us, we all say it. During his tenure things didn’t go on well. He said the flesh of the country is all gone and it is left with the bones.”

“Getting chalk in schools was a challenge, he cancelled training allowance, and nursing training also was cancelled. Jobs were difficult for our youth but he said he was not a magician to manufacture jobs for our people. We have been experiencing ‘dumsor’ for four years.

“In 2016, we went for the election and he lost. He came back in 2020 and we didn’t vote for him. He said he is coming back this 2024. I believe that by the grace of God and your grace as well we will vote him out again for me to go. Since we came into office everybody will attest to the fact that we as NPP have been able to work more than the NDC,” Dr. Bawumia reiterated.
