Why the Police Officer assaulted nursing mother

THE VICTIM’S STORY

“I just listened to an interview with the woman, Patience, who is a toffee hawker
She is a susu contributor of the bank. She has contributed Ghc 270. She and her fellow contributors have been going to the bank since last week Friday to withdraw their contributions.

As a result of the difficulties they have faced since last Friday, she went to the bank as early as 7:30 am yesterday, when the bank had not even opened, to enable her collect her money.

When the bank opened yesterday she was one of the first to enter the bank. The bank workers assured her she would get her money. She was in the bank till 4pm yesterday, when the policeman came to tell her to leave because it was closing time.

She told the policeman that she didn’t have money to buy food for her children. But the policeman insisted that he had been ordered to sack her. She obviously refused and the policeman surprisingly slapped her. The rest is history. The incident happened yesterday.
