Why Ghana Must Postpone Swearing-In Akuffo Addo On 7th January. Here Are The Reasons

Considering the way things are going, I sense an eminent chaos that would hit the shores of Ghana.

Some citizens have lost their lives already and if concrete steps are not taken, more lives would be lost.

On the 7th of January 2021, the president of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would be sworn in for the second term.

I am of the opinion that it should be postponed until there is tranquility in the country.

That is my humble opinion and these are my reasons;

Party supporters are protesting all over the country to show their disapproval in the president elected.

There is a likelihood that these people might boycott the inauguration ceremony and it will be one of the darkest days in the history of Ghana. Our democracy is at stake.

The whole world is watching us. Servants of God are prophesying that the 7th January inauguration would be bloody.

So why don’t we postpone it and solve the problem at hand first.

Also the presidential candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has refused to concede defeat.

He is calling on an independent body to do an audit of the election because he felt that he won the seat but they rigged the election in favor of the NPP.

He is also planning to contest the case in court and so they cannot just go and swear in Akufo-Addo.

It is unconstitutional because he has the right to call for and independent audit of the results.

Furthermore, the electoral commission’s declaration of the presidential has raised a lot of suspicions over the validity of the results.

The commission came out with three different results which did not reconcile.

So there is a need for the commission to collate the results again to be sure they have the right thing. It has never happened in the history of Ghana and proper attention should be given if not the inauguration ceremony might be hijacked.

Last but not least, the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC is calling on the electoral commission to declare John Dramani Mahama as the president elect.

From the results they collated, they believed that John Dramani Mahama is the president elect. However the electoral commission has declared the results already and any changes might cause the biggest civil war ever witnessed. Even if the EC comes out with a statement that there’s a runoff, the president elect and his supporters might also protest.

Why not postpone this inauguration until there’s peace.

A stitch in time saves nine so they say. Fellow Ghanaians, let’s not spectators in this crucial matter. The government is nothing without it’s citizens. Let us all remember mother Ghana in our prayers so that this too shall pass. Let the right thing be done and let peace prevail.

God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong
