Weta Traditional Council launches Community Covid-19 Fund

The Weta Traditional Council in the Ketu North District of Volta Region has set up a Community COVID-19 Fund with an initial seed money of GHc2,000 from the President of the Council, Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI.

The Community Covid-19 Fund was launched during an inauguration of a thirty nine (39) member COVID-19 Response Committee to complement efforts of government of Ghana in the fight against the deadly virus in the Weta Traditional Area of the Ketu North Municipal Assembly in the Volta Region.

The committee comprises eminent chiefs, dumegawo (elders), assembly members and other opinion leaders from the Weta Traditional Area with a direct orders and supervision of Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI who doubles as the President of Weta Traditional Council.

“We will like to state that despite the above named members, all chiefs in his/her jurisdiction of the traditional area is a direct focal point for the fight against this disease and therefore must liaise with the committee members in educating, reporting and enforcing the COVID-19 protocols by the government of Ghana.” – a statement copied Awake News and signed by Chairman of the Committee, Torgbui Awadada Esru IV, Domefiaga of Weta, Agbadomi  has said.

The Weta Traditional Area COVID-19 Community Response Fund, according to the statement seeks to support the public education and provision of Personal Protective Equipment for health centres and public institutions in the traditional area.

“the True Tiger Torgbuiga Akpo Ashiakpor VI has also launched Weta Traditional Area COVID-19 Community Response Fund with a fund allocation of Gh2,000.00. He also encourages the indigenes as well as the general public to support the fund with cash, PPEs, Hand Sanitizers, Liquid Soaps, Tissue Papers, Veronica Bottles and Water to enable the committee assist in the government of Ghana’s effort in fighting the COVID-19 disease.” – the statement
