The West Gonja District Assembly in the newly created yet to be declared Savanna Region has presented motorbikes to some 19 assembly members in the district.
The assembly members who were full of joy after receiving the motorbikes praised the assembly for coming to their aid since most of them find it difficult visiting their electoral areas.
Presenting the motorbikes to the assembly members, the District Coordinating Director for West Gonja District Mr. Petro Ankorle who represented the District Chief Executive Hon. Saeed Jibril Muhazu indicated that since he took over as the DCD for the district, every assembly meeting has featured purchasing of motorbikes for the members on the agenda.
He is, therefore, very happy that at long last, the motorbikes will now become a thing of the past. He urged the assembly members to take good care of the bikes and since the bikes will enhance their work in the district.
Receiving the motorbikes on behalf of the Assembly members, the presiding member for the District who doubles as the assembly member for the Dass/Broto electoral area Hon. Dramani Katribi thanked the assembly for the support to help them work effectively. He praised the DCE for his efforts since his assumption into office towards the procurement of the means of transport for the assembly members.
Mr Katribi did indicate that the issue of the motorbikes is been long overdue but finally on behalf of his colleagues, they are happy.
The presiding member also indicated that 2019 is a year of reelections of assembly members in the country and the timely handing over the bikes will go a long way to help them visit their electoral areas especially during campaigns.
Some government appointees including the DCE and member of parliament for the area are part of the recipients of the motorbikes.
