We’ll respond to your petition on Techiman South election results – EC to NDC

Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission (EC) has rendered an apology to the Minority Caucus in Parliament for the Commission’s inability to receive their petition.

This follows the presentation of the petition by the Minority to the EC on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, after a failed attempt a couple of days ago.

The Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu in a letter accompanying the petition had earlier expressed regret that the Minority caucus was not given access to the EC’s premises and that no official was available to receive in hand the petition.

A statement signed by the EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa said, “On behalf of the Electoral Commission, I write to acknowledge receipt of your letter and petition dated the 21st of December, 2020.

The EC however asserted that its inability to meet the Minority “stemmed from the late receipt” of their letter.

“We assure you that our doors remain open should you wish to present the petition in person to the Commission.”

The EC further revealed its commitment to resolving issues arising from the just-ended December 7 polls.

“As a commission, we remain committed to resolving issues arising from the just-ended elections which are within our mandate”.

“Meanwhile, the Commission will study the contents of the petition and respond within the shortest possible time”, the statement said.
