We support President-elect Mahama’s morally sound decision to reject 2020 results – Nordic NDC

The Nordic Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) made up of the branches in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden say they have lent their “unequivocal and unflinching support to President-elect John Mahama’s morally sound decision not to concede the 2020 presidential elections to the defeated presidential candidate of NPP, Nana Akufo Addo”

In a statement copied Awake News, the leadership of the Nordic NDC said “The decision not to recognise and accept the results as “certified” by the Electoral Commission is based on the overwhelming evidence of unparalleled subterfuge and malfeasance that characterised the collation of the results of the elections.”

According to them, “the hasty and haphazard manner in which the results were collated, certified and announced shows the extent to which the Electoral Commission of Ghana has been transformed into a cesspool of corruption and contamination under the kleptocratic and autocratic regime of Nana Akufo Addo.” adding that “Never in the history of Ghana have deliberate and sustained attempts been made by an incumbent government to jettison one of the sacred democratic-procedural institutions enshrined in our constitution to safeguard the Will of the People.”

They have accused the Electoral Commission of allowing themself to be turned into NPP’s massaging parlor which only good at massaging the election result figure to the advantage of the NPP. This they emphasized is an attack on Ghana’s democracy and an attempt to impose an autocratic rule in Ghana.

The transformation of the Electoral Commission into a massage parlour for massaging election results is part of NPP’s direct attack on Ghana’s nascent democracy, and its attempt to impose an autocratic rule on Ghanaians.

Recounting events leading to the December 7 polls, the NDC said:

“Barely four months to the 2020 general elections and defying general public opinion, the NPP government ordered the Electoral Commission to compile a new Voters Register to boost its electoral chances. In the process, the police and military brutalised and disenfranchised many potential voters in NDC’s strongholds. At the same time, registered voters in NPP’s strongholds skyrocketed. Prior to this, the NPP government engaged in the ethnic balkanisation of Ghana through the creation of new districts and regions mostly along ethnic lines, also meant to promote the party’s electoral chances.”

“NDC is a peaceful social democratic party bent on building a peaceful, united and prosperous Ghana. Should the evil forces of the oppressor continue to unleash the tide of violence on our people, then we must not hesitate to use the appropriate measures to curb this tidal violence decisively. For we have the moral right, responsibility, and revolutionary zeal to do so!” – The warned

A Message of Support and Solidarity to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regarding the 2020 General Elections in Ghana.

We the members of the Nordic Chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) made up of the branches in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden hereby lend our unequivocal and unflinching support to President-elect John Mahama’s morally sound decision not to concede the 2020 presidential elections to the defeated presidential candidate of NPP, Nana Akufo Addo. The decision not to recognise and accept the results as “certified” by the Electoral Commission is based on the overwhelming evidence of unparalleled subterfuge and malfeasance that characterised the collation of the results of the elections.

The hasty and haphazard manner in which the results were collated, certified and announced shows the extent to which the Electoral Commission of Ghana has been transformed into a cesspool of corruption and contamination under the kleptocratic and autocratic regime of Nana Akufo Addo. Never in the history of Ghana have deliberate and sustained attempts been made by an incumbent government to jettison one of the sacred democratic-procedural institutions enshrined in our constitution to safeguard the Will of the People.

The transformation of the Electoral Commission into a massage parlour for massaging election results is part of NPP’s direct attack on Ghana’s nascent democracy, and its attempt to impose an autocratic rule on Ghanaians.

Barely four months to the 2020 general elections and defying general public opinion, the NPP government ordered the Electoral Commission to compile a new Voters Register to boost its electoral chances. In the process, the police and military brutalised and disenfranchised many potential voters in NDC’s strongholds. At the same time, registered voters in NPP’s strongholds skyrocketed. Prior to this, the NPP government engaged in the ethnic balkanisation of Ghana through the creation of new districts and regions mostly along ethnic lines, also meant to promote the party’s electoral chances.

This orchestrated attack on Ghana’s democracy continued with the suppression of press freedom and liberties of Ghanaians under a dark national atmosphere characterised by NPP-inspired vigilantism and thugism, successive scandals involving top government officials, and the politics of impunity. A heavy nationwide blackout of character, integrity, responsibility, accountability and transparency seemed to engulf our dear motherland as Ghanaians prepared to vote.

On December 7, 2020, Ghanaians voted overwhelmingly as expected against these shameful autocratic attempts by Nana Akufo Addo and NPP to derail Ghana’s democracy. Through their votes, Ghanaians asserted their Will and embraced the vision that President John Mahama and NDC have for Ghana.

For NPP to turn around in wanton desperation to steal the elections in broad daylight is a serious criminal act, a complete and utter travesty of justice and the democratic-procedural mechanisms that undergird our democracy. As the last hope of Ghanaians against autocratic rule, NDC must not relent in our determination to protect the Will and liberties of Ghanaians and safeguard our democratic norms, values and institutions. The real results of the elections must be released!

The vision that NDC under the able leadership of President John Mahama has for Ghana is clear. NDC wants to continue to invest in Ghanaians and rejuvenate an economy that Akufo Addo and his henchmen have grossly mismanaged. NDC wants to continue to build more roads, schools, health facilities, and other infrastructure. All in the name of the common good and in solidarity with common Ghanaian men and women. NDC’s ultimate aim is to create a Ghanaian society akin to the ones in the Nordic countries, where equalisation of opportunities through a true social democratic and transparent governance is paramount. This was what Ghanaians overwhelmingly voted for on December 7, 2020.

In our sterling determination to fight with all the means necessary for the release of the true parliamentary and presidential results of the 2020 general elections, we must reject all overtures from so-called Civil Society Organisations (CSOS) to President John Mahama to concede the elections to Nana Akufo Addo, the loser. The silence of these organisations in the face of the violent antidemocratic tendencies of the Akufo Addo regime has been eloquent and defeaning. Rather than call on President John Mahama to concede, these organisations must assert their moral stance and make demands on Nana Akufo Addo to relinquish the reins of power to President John Mahama, the rightful winner of the elections. This way, these organisations may contribute to redeem Ghana’s democracy and their own tarnished images.

Ghana belongs to Ghanaians. Their inalienable, inviolable and unbendable Will, as reflected in the 2020 elections, represents their power of self-determination that no autocrat and his poodles can constrain or suppress. NDC must safeguard that Will with all means necessary, and deploy it in building a better Ghana. Protecting that Will and the self-determination of Ghanaians involves self-sacrifice. The Nordic Chapter of NDC remembers our six comrades, the NAADA 6, murdered in cold blood by the armed forces of Nana Akufo Addo. They died asserting their self-determination. They are heroes and martyrs of freedom. We mourn with their families knowing that Democracy and the Rule of Law shall prevail in Ghana.

We would like to emphasise that our 140 parliamentary seats won in the 2020 elections are non-negotiable. Let us keep up the fight to get back the remaining three stolen seats for Tarkwa Nsuaem, Sefwi-Wiaso, and Techiman South before the convening of the eighth parliament. We also implore the leadership of NDC to demand the immediate arrest and prosecution of the police and military officers who murdered our heroes, and to intensify demands for an independent forensic audit of the results to ensure full transparency and accuracy in the results. We applaud the consultations President John Mahama is having with various representatives of the international community. We appeal to the international community to intervene and ensure that Akufo Addo concedes the elections to President John Mahama and ends his autocratic rule.

NDC is a peaceful social democratic party bent on building a peaceful, united and prosperous Ghana. Should the evil forces of the oppressor continue to unleash the tide of violence on our people, then we must not hesitate to use the appropriate measures to curb this tidal violence decisively. For we have the moral right, responsibility, and revolutionary zeal to do so!

THE WILL AND VOTES OF GHANAIANS MATTER!!!

Long live Ghana. Long live the National Democratic Congress!
