The Ghana Police Services has dismissed reports by the Daily Guide newspaper’s Wednesday edition which claimed that the Police CID has rescued the three kidnapped Takoradi Girls.
In a press statement by the Police Administration sighted by Awake News, described the said publication as false whiles “assuring families of the kidnapped girls and the public that we are working tirelessly with partner agencies to rescue the kidnapped girls”.
According to the statement, the “Police have assigned liaison officers in Takoradi to coordinate information between Police and the families of the kidnapped girls and encourage family leadership to cooperate with the assigned officers”.
The report of the rescue is coming weeks after the Director General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of Ghana Police Service, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah at a press conference on Wednesday, 3 April 2019, told journalists that the Police know the whereabouts of the girls but will not disclose it for their safety.
“It’s taken us over three months to even identify where the ladies are, and what we don’t want to do is do anything that will jeopardise the safety of that. So we are working very hard. All the stakeholders who are supposed to be on board are on board and hopefully, the girls will be brought back safe and sound,” DCOP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah said.
But Ghanaians could no longer be silent about 3weeks on after the announcement and assurance of the Police hence there pressure on the Police to produce the girls.
