We did not approve GH₵4,500 iPad keyboard request – COCOBOD

COCOBOD has clarified that the request for approval to purchase iPad keyboards at a cost of GH₵4,500.00 each for Board Members has not been approved.

A memo to the Director of Finance dated February 26, which has since gone viral, captured a request for the purchase of some 15 iPad keyboards at a cost of GH₵4,500.00, totaling GH₵67,500.

A statement issued to clarify the matter, explained that the earlier memo was “a proposal requesting management to approve the procurement of iPad keyboards for members of the Board of Directors.”

However, “Management has not sanctioned the procurement of the keyboards, and consequently, no procurement transactions have taken place,” the statement released on April 1 stated.

According to the statement, “the request to purchase iPad keyboards was based on the Board’s adoption of the ‘CONVENE’ App” to facilitate efficiency and cut down on paper and stationary at its meetings.
