WAFU Cup: Maxwell Konadu says playing Nigeria will be tough

The Head coach of the local Black Stars, Maxwell Konadu, is anticipating a very difficult match against regional rivals, Nigeria today, in Group A’s final group game which will be played at the Cape Coast Sports stadium.

Ghana have already progressed to the semi-finals after winning their two previous games against Guinea and Mali. The Black Stars defeated [ads1]Guinea by 2-0 in their first group game last Thursday and secured a place in the semi-finals last Saturday after beating Mali by 1-0.

Nigeria have drawn two games and will have to beat the Black Stars to enhance their chances of qualifying to the next round.

Maxwell Konadu is not perturbed about the difficult situation of the Super Eagles and says the team will be in for a very difficult match against Ghana.

“We are very happy to be in the competition and to have secured a place in the semi-finals. We are going to strategize and play Nigeria today.

“They have to beat us and matches between these two countries anything can happen but they will be in for a very difficult match today”, he told the media at the post match conference.

Winful Cobbinah who picked up man of the match in Ghana’s group game against Mali last weekend did give credit to team mate Amos Frimpong for helping to get the match winner for Ghana.

“In the second half we were playing better. We did well and scored. Credit to Amos Frimpong because he was able to distract the defenders which enabled me to score the goal”.

Both games will be played simultaneously. The Nduom Sports Stadium will host the other group match between Guinea and Mali.

The Black Stars have secured six points after two games.
