Volta NDC: What does James Gunu bring on board?

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he name Gunu sounds a household name in Ghanian politics in recent times, especially within the NDC. Perhaps, there are many of them but one; James Gunu. The name and the personality of Mr. James Gunu probably rings a bell. Doesn’t it? Your answer would apparently be ‘yes’.

Mr. James Gunu was a former District Chief Executive for the Akatsi North District under the Mahama administration. But before his appointment, little was know or heard about him, although he was always present and active in the NDC. An astute communicator for that matter, Mr. James Gunu was featured several times in news items throughout his tenure as a DCE not only for the ‘talks’ but mostly for his outstanding performance among others.

Mr. James Gunu is one of the few hardworking and loyal members of the NDC who still dedicate time and resources to party activities and events even after the party lost power in 2016. He continues to punch holes and make a take on national issues. His ever present and active routine engagement with the youths and just anyone who comes his way earned him the name ‘Action Man’.

The ‘Action Man’ remain one of the few the NDC can count on for the party’s reorganization going into the 2020 elections. If the party wants to get to the grassroots again, Mr. James Gunu certainly is a candidate with so much charisma and sense of such course. Mr. James Gunu, posses good leadership and interpersonal skills, a very strong analytical skills, innovative and creative, firm, decisive and consistent in decision making and above all Gunu is a good team player.

It is therefore no surprise when the ‘Action Man’ picked up nomination to contest for the Volta regional secretary, when the party opened nomination a week ago. Those who know him too well would agree he is right for the job. He has the ability to rebrand the party at the regional level. Coupled with his enviable academic curriculum vitae, Mr. James Gunu, has served and continue to serve on a number of boards and committees in and out of the Volta region.

If the NDC really wants to mobilze the grassroots and make the party ones more attractive, persons like James Gunu should definitely be retained in their ranks.
