Mr. Nii Tettey Tetteh, the Executive Director of the research think tank STRANEK Africa has said Ghana’s telecom giant, Vodafone Ghana has dashed out details of its customers to the Kelni GVG like like a tabletop tomato business.
Mr. Tetteh was reacting to reports that Vodafone Ghana has admitted given our details of their close to 10million customers to telecom revenue monitoring company, Kelni GVG.
According to the reports, Vodafone Ghana said the details given out included phone numbers, call records, names of personal holding those numbers among others.
This, Mr. Tetteh said, “Vodafone has finally dashed the details of its customers like a tabletop tomato business.”
“Even after various petitions from institutions like STRANEK-Africa, they betrayed their customers.
Vodafone is not a safe network to subscribe to. The privacy of customers is not assured” – He added
STRANEK said even though they have petitioned the company and state authority to protect customer they still went ahead and gave out the details.
