V/R: Looming tension at Adidome over a planned installation of a rival Chief

Information reaching Awake News confirms that there is a looming tension at Mafi Adidome in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region over a planned installation of a rival chief of the area under the name Togbe Kwasinyi Agyeman (Kakaklolo) V as Dufia of Adidome.

In a petition addressed to the District Chief Executive who doubles as the Chairman of District Security Council dated August 19, 2021 sighted by Awake News, following the demised if Togbe Kwasinyi Agyeman IV of Mafi Traditional Area, the Royal Norgbedzi Family of Toh-Tovie of Mafi has successfully installed a successor to the throne under the name Togbe Kwasinyi Agyeman V to pave way for the funeral rites of the late Chief as customs demands.

According to the petition copied the Volta Region Minister, Dr. Letsa who doubles as the Chairman of the Regional Security Council “On Tuesday, 17th August, 2021, a new Chief (Dufia) of Adidome has been enstooled at the Palace of Togbe Kwasinyi Agyeman IV, Fiato (Zzembe), Adidome in a colourful ceremony. The new Chief, Togbe Kwasinyi Agyeman V, Dufia of Adidome has been introduced to the Manklalo of Mafi Traditional Area on Wednesday, 18th August, 2021.”

However, just after the outdooring of the new Chief, “information reaching us [the Petitioner] is that a group of people from Fiagbenu unit family of Ahorne Principal family has begun a process leading to the installation of a rival chief at Adidome.”

“The information further revealed that the group is installing the chief under the name Togbe Kwasinyi Agyeman (Kakaklolo) V. We are petitioning against this move by that clique of people from Fiagbenu unit family
with the intention to create mayhem in Adidome” – the Petition said.

Speaking to some citizens in the area confirms the fear of possible clash between two feuding factions saying there have been along dispute between the two families before the demise of the late Chief.

According to Awake News sources, the Fiagbenu unit family dragged Togbe Kwasinyi Agyeman IV to the National House of Chief challenging his legitimacy, the case at as the House of Chief as a long time until it was determined which yet in favour of the late Chief leading to his reinstatement as the legitimate Chief.

The source reveled that feeling dissatisfied by the House of Chiefs ruling, the Fiagbenu family filed any appeal at the Court with the Togbe Kwasinyi Agyeman IV and the National House of Chiefs as the first and second respondent respectively.

The case at the court according to Awake News’ investigations was not resolved or determined before the passing of Togbe Kwasinyi Agyeman IV, the first respondent.
