V/R: Enam of 2019 GMB launches fight against teenage pregnancy

Anita Mawuenam Bossoh of the 2019 Ghana’s Most Beautiful, has launched a campaign to tackle the prevalence of teenage pregnancy in the country.

The 27-year old Volta regional representative, known as Enam, launched her foundation in Ho on Friday, February 7, 2020.

According to Enam, teenage pregnancy is one of the most prevalent social problems that jeopardizes the aspirations and development of the girl child.

“Today, one of the biggest social problems facing the growth and development of the girl child is teenage pregnancy. But I want to embark on a journey that would empower the young girl out there and to inspire them to see life beyond teenage pregnancy. I want the girl child to know that pregnancy can not be the end of life”, she

She added that “while educating these teenagers on the causes, effects and the preventive measures of the menace, I want to encourage them to go back to school even after delivery – that’s the focus of my campaign”.

Her manager, Mr. Amedume also added that the decision to embark on the campaign, is as a result of the fact that Enam, was born as a product of teenage pregnancy, at a time the mother was just 16years old.

“Enam is a product of teenage pregnancy and was born just when her mother was 16years old.

She went from being a sales girl to being a maidservant just to survive, since there was no one at home to help. And so, for her to have guarded herself through these periods to the highest level of education, she is the right person to inspire these young ones”.

The campaign according to Enam would be a nation wide campaign but would focus attention on school children and teenage mothers in the Volta and Central regions.

Enam who represented the Volta region in the reality show was adjudged the 1st Runner-up, while winning a number of awards for her dazzling performances throughout the contest.
