The two communities, Bakpa Dokpo and Bakpa Akplakope in the Central Tongu District of the Volta region, were thrown in a state of annihilation, when the Member of Parliament for the Central Tongu Constituency, Hon. Alex Gabby Hottordjie, commissioned two standpipe boreholes on Monday night, to put to an end the precarious water challenges they face.
The two farming communities, over the years share a small ‘dugout’ (pond) with cattle, which usually dries up in the dry season and put residents in a more difficult situation among others.
Upon several calls, the Shaqiri Family and BRR Group of USA in collaboration with the Amazing Grace Children’s Foundation came to their aid to drill two separate boreholes for the two communities.
Bakpa Dokpo and Akplakope are just two of the numerous farming communities that are deprived of potable water and electricity.
The Ghanaian representative of the Amazing Grace Children’s Foundation, Mr. Clifford Yao Frimpong commended the MP for his persistent role in having to bring the NGOs to the two communities.
“The MP happens to be my friend and I must commend him for his consistent and persistent request to me to come here and help his people. I had to contact my NGO (Amazing Grace Children’s Foundation) and another family, (Shaqiri Family) in the United States, who gladly accepted to come to the aid of the two communities.” he said.
“Tonight, thankfully, we are here with Hon. Hottordjie to hand over newly sunk boreholes to Dokpo and Akplakope, to the benefit of residents here.” he added.
Residents of the two communities expressed their gratitude and explained that, the boreholes would alleviate their plights. They promise to put the boreholes into good use.
