V/R: 4 persons arrested in connection with murder of Sogakope Assemblyman

Four persons have been arrested by the police in the Volta region on suspicion for their involvement in the murder of the Sogakope South Assemblyman, Marcus Mawutor Adzahli.

The four are currently assisting the police in investigation and would be arraigned before court, a police release on Sunday says.

The release issued by the Volta regional PRO of the police, Corporal Prince Dogbatse said, “the police is working assiduously in partnership with a relevant stakeholders to arrest anyone involved in the killing of the Assemblyman and also calls on he public for support,” he noted.

He also said that “the situation at Sogakope police station requires a review of the operational and adminstrative protocols and command is determined to do so”.

Corporal Dogbatse however stated that, two police officers who have also been arrested and are in detention, following the disappearance of one service riffle at the Sogakope police station on Saturday 7 March, 2020, have not yet been found to be connected to the Sunday night murder incident.

The two officers according to the release, would be transferred to the Regional Police Headquarters to assist in investigation.

The police administration also urged the media to be circumspect and exercise restraint in its reportage in order not to mislead the public.
