Uniting Women for Agricultural Development (UWAD Foundation), a foundation that supports women in agribusiness has partnered online e-commerce giant GHSELL.Com to promote products of women along the value chain of agribusiness.

The initiative which has the backing and active involvement of the Women in Agricultural Development (WIAD) one of the seven Technical Directorates under the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and National Farmers and Fishermen Award winners [ads1]Association will see UWAD Foundation engage women in Agribusiness and put their product on GHSELL.COM and marketed strategically to attract the right customers for their products at no extra cost.

GHSELL.COM will provide all the technical support needed to get their product to the target audience. Unlike the advertisement of the regular product on the platform, women captured in the initiative will see their products given extra impressions to attract more views.

A few years ago, the role of women in the family was largely limited to the four walls of the house to keep the home and look to the man for all her needs. The man was largely responsible for providing the means to the needs of every member of the family.

However, needs placed on human largely due to civilization has ensured that an extra hand is needed if a family will live a fulfilling life be really independent. In view of this, it has become a norm for women to be economically productive so that the entire burden of providing for the family does not rest on the man’s singular shoulder.

Today, we have many women who are playing key roles in various organizations and getting well paid as their men counterparts.

In spite of the progress made by women over the years though, there remain a considerable gab between women and men that it will take a conscious effort and strategic planning to give as many women as possible the same level of opportunities as available to men.

One area with the massive disparity between the man and the woman is Agribusiness. Even though there are a substantial number of women in this sector, only a few are able to derive the maximum benefits from their toils due to lack of access to a readily available market.  Most of their goods are either purchased cheaper than their worth or left to rot in the farm.

The increasing access to internet in Ghana and the entire continent of Africa has created limitless avenue for e-commerce to thrive. In view of this business owners who master the art of trading online always find themselves a step ahead of those who only utilize person to person trading approach.

Unfortunately for most of our women in Agribusiness though, taking advantage of these platforms has become a task nearly impossible due to lack of knowledge on how to use them.

With this initiative, all a woman in Agribusiness has to do is to contact UWAD Foundation or GHSELL.COM to request for the service at no extra cost.

It is easy and available to every woman doing anything food

GHSELL.COM is a leading e-commerce platform in Ghana and one of the fastest growing sales and purchasing platforms in Africa.

UWAD Foundation is an organization that seeks to empower women in Agriculture, help them derive the maximum benefit from their labour and also to attract more women into Agribusiness.

We believe that an economically independent woman is an asset to the nation.
