United Cadre Front threatens gov’t over Ayawaso by-election violence

Failure to remove the Minister of State in-charge of National Security, Bryan Acheampong from office confirms the long-held belief that the violence unleashed on citizens during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election was a grand agenda orchestrated from the heart of the Presidency, United Cadre Front (UCF) has stated.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) affiliated group in the Tema sub-region is accusing Bryan Acheampong of deploying “armed and masked thugs, and the gangsters” in National Security uniforms to brutally assault the electorates, hence the call for his dismissal.

In a strong-worded press statement jointly signed by executives of the group, members of the UCF insist the attack was perpetrated to “intimidate the NDC and well-meaning Ghanaians”.

They are urging President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to show commitment to ensuring peace and order in the country or take discerning citizens; particularly members of the NDC for granted and face their wrath.

“We, therefore, call on the President, Nana Akufo-Addo to show bold leadership to cause heads to roll in order to demonstrate his commitment to peace and order. In the absence of such the UCF is mobilizing all its members across the country and preparing them adequately to match any form of aggression that will be perpetrated against the NDC and ordinary citizens,” the UCF warned.

UCF MOBILIZES AGAINST GOVERNMENT, STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT AND SECURITY FORCES

The United Cadre Front (UCF) Tema sub-region has observed with chagrin the untidy and indecent manner that government has conducted itself in the aftermath of the unfortunate incidents at Ayawaso West Wuogon on 31 January 2019.

While we remain unfazed by the brazing attempt to use State law enforcement and armed Party thugs against the NDC and ordinary citizens. We are even more appalled that after several days of public condemnations and calls for heads to roll the government found it expedient to only set up a commission of enquiry.

The UCF wishes to publicly state that the failure to remove the Minister in charge of National Security, Bryan Acheampong at the Presidency who deployed those armed and masked thugs, and the gangsters clothed in NSC T-shirt who physically assaulted our sitting member of Parliament confirms our long-held belief that the violence unleashed on citizens that day was a grand agenda orchestrated from the heart of the presidency and brutally executed to intimidate the NDC and well-meaning Ghanaians.

We, therefore, call on the President, Nana Akufo-Addo to show bold leadership to cause heads to roll in order to demonstrate his commitment to peace and order. In the absence of such the UCF is mobilizing all its members across the country and preparing them adequately to match any form of aggression that will be perpetrated against the NDC and ordinary citizens.

Let none be taken for granted in this country. We will continue to derive our strength from our national anthem. We are committed to boldly defend our freedom and our right; and will fearlessly resist every oppressor’s rule. We have come too far to be returned to a regime of fascist resemblance.

We wish to place the Government on notice that the army may be stronger but the people are mightier, and that the people have always prevailed against State forces.

The struggle to find true freedom and justice still continues.
